Welcome to the Farm School on the Creek, in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest.

A place where childhood slows down and learning comes alive by being rooted in faith and surrounded by God’s creation.

We are a nature-based faith-rooted farm school committed to helping children grow in wonder, wisdom, and hands-on knowledge. We welcome both full-time students and part time homeschoolers who want to enhance their learning through farming, homesteading, animal care, and ecological study.

Choose the schedule that fits your family best:

  • 1, 2, 3, or 5 days per week

  • Half-day or full-day options

Our small class sizes, project-based learning, and commitment to individualized instruction ensure that each child is known, loved, and challenged in meaningful ways.

🐓 What Makes Us Unique:

  • Farm-Based Science Enrichment every morning ages 5-10: Students engage with seasonal biology, ecology, botany, and animal science through hands-on projects, gardening, and caring for alpacas, miniature donkeys, goats, and horses.

  • Core Academic Instruction in the afternoons for our full time students ages 5-7: With a focus on reading, phonics, math, and writing, each child receives an individualized learning plan in a small-group environment.

  • Faith Integration woven into every day, including weekly devotionals and memory verses rooted in Scripture.

  • Optional Free-Play Days on Thursdays and Fridays to support whole-child development through exploration, rest, and creativity.

  • Year-Round Rhythm that honors family time with intentional seasonal breaks and hands-on summer camps during harvest season.

  • Life Skills & Family Meals: Students occasionally participate in cooking, meal prep, and setting a shared table—learning hospitality, teamwork, and nourishment in a community setting.

Whether your child attends full-time or just a few days a week, they will be deeply known, actively engaged, and joyfully learning—surrounded by God’s creation and a supportive village.

A Typical Week on the Creek

Monday–Wednesday (Structured Days) Half Day students can chose 1,2, or 3 days to attend from 8:00-11:30 AM Ages 5-10

  • 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM | Farm Science Enrichment
Our day will always begin with prayer and the pledge of allegiance and then the feeding of the farm and then our science and nature block will begin. This block immerses children in the natural world, using biology, botany, zoology, and ecology to observe and interact with living systems. Students explore the life cycles of plants and animals, study soil health and decomposition, and learn about ecosystems, food chains, weather patterns, and conservation through hands-on farm tasks. Our farm curriculum follows the seasons—teaching children how to plan, plant, care for, and harvest crops throughout the year. Through project-based learning, students might plant spring vegetables, build compost bins, design irrigation systems, or manage small garden plots. We encourage curiosity through nature journaling, experiments, weather tracking, and creation-based observation.

Children will also care for and learn from our beloved farm animals: alpacas, miniature donkeys, goats, and horses. These responsibilities teach empathy, responsibility, and biology in action. Students help feed, groom, and tend to the animals while learning about their habitats, anatomy, diet, and behaviors. Animal science is woven into seasonal themes—for example, studying wool during shearing season or tracking goat milk production and its uses.

  • 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Lunch Break Full time students only ages 5-7
During our lunch period, students will occasionally participate in cooking and meal preparation. These experiences teach children how to prepare simple meals, safely use kitchen tools, properly set a table, and enjoy a shared family-style meal. Parents will be notified in advance when this supplemental activity is scheduled. On all other days, full-time students are expected to bring their lunch.

  • 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM | Core Academic Instruction Full time students only ages 5-7
During this time, students focus on math, literacy, and writing in a nurturing and supportive environment. Our literacy program includes structured phonics, early reading comprehension, and individualized reading instruction tailored to each child's level. Small class sizes allow for personalized learning plans, targeted skill development, and a flexible pace that honors each child’s unique strengths and needs. Writing activities are integrated with science and nature journaling to create a meaningful connection between observation and expression.

Teachers assess progress regularly and communicate closely with families to support each student’s academic journey.

  • 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM | Outdoor Play & Reflective Time

Thursday (Farm & Faith Day) Full time Students only Ages 5-7

  • A meaningful mix of farm chores and responsibilities, chapel worship with singing and devotionals, and time spent cultivating hearts for stewardship and service a long with core instruction.

Friday (Enrichment & Support Day) Full time Students only Ages 5-7

  • Fridays are designed for both enrichment and support: students who need extra help receive one-on-one tutoring, while others work on advanced projects or deeper learning. Students also participate in service projects, scripture memory, and practice being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. Each month, and season dependent, we will be joined by a community member for a day to showcase local talent and to spark interest in children’s passion.

**Please Note: Our schedule has the liberty to change based off of the students needs and what is happening on the farm that day.

Why us? Why this Community? A note from the founders.

Our story begins with humble roots and a front-row seat to watching God do what only He can—make a way where there seemed to be none.

Caldwell County is a place of stunning beauty, strong values, and some of the most incredible kids and families you’ll ever meet. But like many communities, it’s also a place in need—specifically, a need for something different when it comes to education. We believe children deserve more than desks and tests. They need a space where faith is the foundation, where their hearts are nurtured alongside their minds, and where their individuality is not only seen but celebrated and most importantly where the heart of a child is considered and made the first priority.

That’s the mindset and purpose behind the Farm School on the Creek. It is a school rooted in God’s Word, where learning is hands-on, purpose-filled, and led by wonder. A place where childhood is slowed down, where kids are free to explore, ask big questions, and grow at their own pace.

We’re not just building a school—we’re building a community. We want to walk alongside you in this journey of parenting, supporting one another as we raise up a generation of free thinkers, Jesus lovers, and lifelong learners.

This isn’t a one-family mission. It’s a movement. And we’re so glad you’re here.

With love and purpose,

Jeremy, Kelsey and Melissa
